Schweeeet! Check out the brand new Santa Clara University Cycling jerseys. Do they know how to design a smart looking tunic or what? Many of us have already added one to our wardrobe. I believe extras are still available should you want one of these babies. Contact uber@olivejuice.cc or Robert Harper rharper@scu.edu, the SCU Cycling Club President.

Some of you are already familiar with what I affectionately call my "Franken-tertainment" center. The story is a brief so sit tight even if you've heard it. I had a need for a television stand out in my garage. My neighbor, Vick Cunha, stayed up late one night to build me a shelf. "Oh, no problem there, young whippersnapper. I got plenty of scrap pieces laying around." Voilà! (see right)
But that's not the end of the story. You only wish it were. I added a DVD player to the stack, necessitating a taller, more accommodating shelf. That's when I emailed a plea to my non-Vick friends for help. So many offered their aid it nearly brought me to tears. Apparently, my pitiful cry actually did manage to bring many to tears. Tears of laughter for some reason. Jim took up the challenge and how. See left.

Ah, it is the beginning of the end for yet another unwary newbie cyclist. I would like to formally welcome Monica Border, the enduring wife of Jefferson Border--and how else could you describe someone who has to live with Jeff? Anyway, Monica only just recently purchased her very first road bike. A nice one. So nice, in fact, it compelled Darlene to purchase yet another Colnago C40. That's neither here nor there, but you can mail me if you want the full poop.
Back to the newb...er, Monica. She's not exactly new to cycling; she does have a Klein mountain bike. But she lacks group road riding experience, something you eventually gain...riding in groups...on the road. I've ridden with her twice. She hasn't made me crash yet ;-)
Haa haa haa, I kill me sometimes. Uh oh, I'm losing 'em. Better get out the A material. Whew, tough crowd. Is this thing on? Whatever. Please greet her cordially when next you ride together, probably on one of our non-competitive <snicker> Über rides. |
